Material List

Most importantly, bring what you already own. Below is just some material that might be useful.

Brushes: Hake or any broad soft brushes that can hold a lot of water.

  • Flat synthetic brush (broad and narrow).

  • Point synthetic (a couple of different sizes).

  • Large hog hair

  • Old toothbrush

Pigments: Whatever you already have, or warm and cool of each primary colour.

  • Yellow ochre, violet, raw umber, raw and burnt sienna could be handy but only if you already have them.

  • Use professional instead of student colour.

Paper: Cotton base paper like Arches 300gsm rough or Baohong 300gsm rough. Both are very good but the latter is nearly half the price. This is most important. If you sacrifice this with poor quality paper you will be disappointed with the result.

Tools:

  • Hairdryer if you have one.

  • Squeeze bottle or atomiser.

  • Pencil and kneadable eraser.

Note: Some equipment may be shared amongst two, so don’t panic.
