Kerri Scoullar

Kerri Scoullar (@kerriscoullar_art) is an experienced modern artist who works in mixed medium, oil and acrylic. Her bright and engaging paintings are inspired by nature and the land and enjoying her country life in Mathoura.

Growing up on the quiet plains of Finley, Kerri Scoullar’s world was shaped by the colours and textures of her family’s gardens. "I’ve always been inspired by the vibrancy of nature," Kerri shares. "The landscapes, birds, and botanicals of this region are a constant source of creativity for me. This exhibition reflects those influences and my ongoing journey as an artist."

Kerri’s artistic journey began with studies in Art & Design in Shepparton, where she majored in painting but explored various disciplines including ceramics, drawing, life drawing, and sculpture. As a contemporary artist, her work spans still life, streetscapes, and floral modernism, bringing elements of the local landscape into vibrant compositions that feature the surrounding bush, birds, and botanical forms.

Initially trained in oils, Kerri’s practice has evolved through experimentation to include acrylics and mixed media, allowing her to develop a distinctive, dynamic style. She was fortunate to receive early mentorship from Creagh Manning and continues to be influenced by the lineage of renowned artists such as Bill Coleman and George Bell.

After spending 12 years living and working in the city, Kerri has returned to the country, drawing fresh inspiration from the landscapes and wildlife around her home in Mathoura.

"It feels like coming home," she says. "There’s something grounding about being surrounded by the familiar sights and sounds of the bush”.
