
Edward River Art Society (ERAS) is a community of visual artists based in Deniliquin, NSW.
We provide opportunities for local artists to meet and work together, as well as exhibit and sell their work through our gallery.
We welcome new members and invite artists to participate in our exhibitions, competitions and workshops.
Exploring painting using gouachewith Lyn Davis
Saturday 20th June 1pm - 4pm and Sunday 21st June 10am-1pm
This two-day workshop introduces the versatile and expressive qualities of gouache, encouraging a spontaneous and intuitive approach to painting. Participants will work with gouache, watercolour, and mixed media while developing skills in observation, composition, and colour.
Day one focuses on landscape painting, working plein air if weather permits or from reference images indoors. Day two explores still life, working from life indoors to create one or two small paintings.
No prior experience is required — just curiosity and a desire to learn.
Duration: Two days, 3 hours per day.

Learn to create simple, versatile handmade books using minimal equipment and easy-to-learn techniques. In this hands-on workshop you’ll make expressive papers for book covers, then construct a range of no-sew books ideal for displaying artwork, along with a Coptic-bound sketchbook that opens flat. By the end of the session you’ll take home five handmade books and the skills to adapt them for your own creative projects. No prior experience required.
Loose & Expressive Watercolour: Understanding Tonal Values with Nina Volk
Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th October
This two-day workshop explores loose, expressive watercolour painting with a focus on how tonal values influence mood. Participants will learn to check and adjust values while painting, creating both mellow and bold interpretations of landscapes and related subjects. The workshop supports confident decision-making and personal interpretation rather than copying reference material. Suitable for people who have had some experience with watercolour.. Print and Stitch Cyanotypes with Mel Anderson and Deirdre Prochilo
Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th April 2025
Print and Stitch Cyanotypes is a hands-on workshop exploring the cyanotype printmaking process on paper, fabric, and mixed materials. Participants will experiment with contact printing using found objects, stencils, drawings on transparency, and photographic negatives. The workshop concludes with stitched and embroidered embellishments, adding texture, detail, and narrative to a chosen print or mixed-media composition.
Experimental Drawing: A Playful Two-Day Drawing Intensive with Elaine Camlin
Saturday 14th November (10am-4.00pm) and Sunday 15th November (10.00am-3.00pm) TBC
This two-day workshop explores playful, intuitive drawing processes through experimental mark-making. Beginning with watercolour to create colour, texture, and tone, participants will then respond to these marks using pencil, charcoal, pastel, and ink.
